The Maintenance Enforcement Program receives, registers and enforces orders and agreements for child and spousal support if the payor lives in P.E.I. It manages payments on the file and takes enforcement measures if payments are in arrears.

How to access this service
Registration in the Maintenance Enforcement Program can be court-ordered or voluntary. The program does not represent either a support payor or beneficiary. In cases where a party voluntarily registered for the program, a beneficiary may opt out of the program and receive payments directly by writing a letter to the program. The beneficiary may opt back in to the program at any time.
The Maintenance Enforcement Program is located in Charlottetown. Clients residing in Prince County may make support payments at the Summerside Law Courts.

There is no charge to register for the Maintenance Enforcement Program.
If a payor misses a support payment or is late with a support payment, a deterrent charge of $25 per month may be charged by the program if a payment is in arrears one month.
A service fee is also charged when an enforcement action is taken to collect outstanding support obligations. The charge goes to the program to help cover administrative costs.
