Goal

Increase support for children who witness family violence.

Objective

  • Increase service providers' awareness of the need to support children who witness family violence
  • Increase service providers' capacity (knowledge and skills) to support children who witness family violence.

Research & Development

Activities:

  • Establish expert Advisory Committee
  • Research and write training module to be incorporated into existing training
  • Pilot training resource in five agencies and with program volunteers
  • Compile results of pilot training and share with participating agencies
  • Revise and publish training resource based on results of pilot

Target Groups:

  • BBBSC service providers including:
    • Child and youth case workers
    • Program volunteers
  • Other service providers
  • Training staff within agencies

Outputs:

  • Draft training resource
  • Pilot project report
  • Final training resource

Promotion & Dissemination:

Activities:

  • Send Announce availability of training resource to BBBSC member organizations and others
  • Make training resources available online (BBBSC website)
  • Develop organizational partnerships to disseminate training resource and make training available to service providers in other organizations

Target Groups:

  • BBBSC service providers including:
    • Child and youth case workers
    • Program volunteers
  • Other service providers
  • Training staff within agencies

Outputs:

Announcements (print, email, web)

Immediate outcomes (within 1 year)

  • Availability of training resource
  • Cross-training sessions conducted with service providers

  • Increased service provider capacity (knowledge and skills) to support children who witness family violence
