This is a pie chart which illustrates the percentage of the most serious offences attributed to Ontario Aboriginal youth in open or closed custody on snapshot day.
This pie chart is divided into five categories, which stand for each type of offence. The two categories are as follows: “Person”, “Property”, “drugs”, “other CC” and “federal/provincial statutes”.
- 45% of Ontario Aboriginal youth in open or closed custody committed a persons offence
- 38% of Ontario Aboriginal youth in open or closed custody committed a property offence
- 15% of Ontario Aboriginal youth in open or closed custody committed an other Criminal Code offence
- 1% of Ontario Aboriginal youth in open or closed custody committed either a drug offence or a federal/provincial statute offence
