This is a vertical bar chart which illustrates most serious charges of Ontario Aboriginal youth in open and secure custody on snapshot day.
The Y axis is measured in percentages and increases in increments of 10 from 0 to 60.
The X axis is divided by 5 categories, from left to right: person, property, drugs, other CC and federal/provincial statute. Each category is divided by 2 sub-categories, from left to right: open and secure.
For Ontario Aboriginal youth in open custody:
- 43% were charged with a person offence
- 41% were charged with a property offence
- 1% were charged with a drugs offence
- 17% were charged with an other CC offence
- 2% were charged with a federal/provincial statute offence
For those in secure custody:
- 52% were charged with a person offence
- 35% were charged with a property offence
- 1% were charged with a drugs offence
- 16% were charged with an other CC offence
- 0% were charged with a federal/provincial statute offence
