A One-Day Snapshot of Aboriginal Youth in Custody Across Canada
Chapter 5 - Ontario
5.1 Introduction
In Ontario , two ministries participated in the One-Day Snapshot of Aboriginal Youth in Custody - the Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services and the Ontario Ministry of Correctional Services. The Ontario Ministry of Community and Social Services is responsible for young offenders between 12-15 years of age, while the Ontario Ministry of Correctional Services is responsible for youth between 16-18 years of age. For this report, the information gleaned from both ministries is analysed together.
Information for this chapter was collected through a combination of electronic file reviews and interviews with youth (conducted by the facility staff).
