In 1997, approximately 175,000 new immigrants and 30,000 refugees were granted landed status in Canada. In 1998, approximately 130,000 new immigrants and 30,000 refugees were granted landed status in Canada. In 1999, approximately 150,000 new immigrants and 30,000 refugees were granted landed status in Canada. In 2000, 197,129 new immigrants were landed in Canada and residence status was granted to 30,080 refugees. In 2001, 222,504 new immigrants and 27,882 refugees were granted landed status in Canada.
