Chart 5: Refugee Claims filed in selected IGC countries Percentage of total claims filed from 1994 to 2001

Chart 5 is a line chart which illustrates the percentage of refugee claims filed in selected ICG countries for the years 1994 to 2001.

The X axis is divided by 8 categories, from left to right: 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001.

The Y axis represents the percentage of refugee claims from 0 to 40 in increments of 5.

There are 6 different lines in this chart which stand for each selected ICG countries: Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.

For all years the Netherlands, Canada and Switzerland had less than 10% refugee claims filed. The UK was relatively stable at approximately 12% but peaks in 2000 with approximately 17% refugee claims filed. The US peaks in 1994 with approximately 30% of refugee claims filed, but reaches a low in 1995 at less than 10% of refugee claims filed. Germany has, by far, the highest percentage of refugee claims filed for nearly every year between 1994 and 2001. Between 1994 and 1997 the percentage of refugee claims increased to a high of 35% in 1997 and began to decrease every year to approximately 22% of refugee claims filed in 2001.
