Fact sheets

The Canadian Victims Bill of Rights (CVBR) came into force on July 23, 2015, and established statutory rights at the federal level for victims of crime. Through the CVBR, victims of crime have the right to information, protection, participation, and to seek restitution. Victims can also make a complaint if they believe their rights have been infringed or denied.

To raise awareness about the CVBR and to provide information to victims of crime about the Criminal Code provisions available to assist them, Justice Canada has developed a series of fact sheets and a brochure on victims’ rights.
