Post-victimization experiences

For Black people impacted by gun violence and those bereaved by the homicide of a family member or friend, what follows a violent incident is a second and often prolonged encounter with institutions whose responses can either support healing or deepen harm. Police interactions, court processes, credibility assessments, and sentencing outcomes are filtered through the same racial logics and structural inequities documented throughout this paper.
