Purpose of collection
Your personal information is collected by CyberImpact on behalf of the Department of Justice Canada. Your personal information will be used by the Department of Justice Canada for the purpose of subscribing to the Research and Statistics Division’s newsletters that announce new research publications to the Justice Canada website or other research-related information until such time as you choose to unsubscribe.
Your participation is voluntary. Acceptance or refusal to provide your personal information will in no way affect your relationship with the Department of Justice Canada.
Authority to collect personal information
The personal information you provide is collected under the authority of the Financial Administration Act. Your personal information will be managed and administered in accordance with the Access to Information Act, the Privacy Act and any other applicable laws.
Uses by CyberImpact
The information collected by CyberImpact is not under the Department of Justice Canada’s control and is therefore not subject to the Privacy Act. Rather, CyberImpact is subject to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), which establishes rules to govern the collection, use and disclosure of personal information in a manner that recognizes the right of privacy of individuals with respect to their personal information and the need of organizations to collect, use or disclose personal information. Your rights
You have the right to the protection of, access to and correction of your personal information, which is described in Personal Information Banks Public Communications PSU 914. Instructions for obtaining this information is outlined on the Department of Justice Canada's Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) website.
Any questions, comments, concerns or complaints you may have regarding the Department of Justice Canada’s handling of your personal information may be addressed to our Access to Information and Privacy Office by emailing Jus.atip-privacy_aiprp-vieprive@justice.gc.ca.
If you are not satisfied with the Department of Justice Canada’s response to your privacy concern, you have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding the institution’s handling of your personal information.
