Figure 7: Youth Justice Initiative Logic Model

The logic model for the Youth Justice Initiative outlines the relationship between the following categories: Activities/Outputs, Immediate Outcomes, Intermediate Outcomes, and Long-term Outcomes. The logic model illustrates the relationship between these categories by using arrows to show its intended effects. Each category follows the other in consecutive order, and there are components to each category. The Activities/Outputs feed into the Immediate Outcomes, which contribute to achievement of Intermediate Outcomes and Long-term Outcomes. The Activities/Outputs in the model are the:

  • YJFSP, which includes FPT agreements that are negotiated, signed, and managed;
  • IRCS, which includes FPT agreements that are negotiated, signed, and managed;
  • YJF, which includes projects selected and managed; and the
  • Policy component, which includes knowledge sharing opportunities among FPT and other stakeholders in the youth justice system.

The Immediate Outcomes in the model under the:

  • YJSFP component is increased capacity of PTs to provide high priority youth justice programs and services;
  • IRCS component is increased capacity of PTs to provide specialized therapeutic youth justice programs and services;
  • YJF and the Policy component is collaboration and knowledge development that align with government priorities and emerging issues.

All three Immediate Outcomes listed previously flow into the Intermediate Outcome, which is to improve responsiveness of the youth justice system.

The Intermediate Outcome flows into the Long-term Outcome, which is for a fair and accessible youth justice system.
