The map shows the percentage of low income areas based census dissemination areas for Ottawa in 2001. Areas in which the percentage of low income is elevated (23% to 29%) are represented by yellow, areas in which the percentage of low income is high (30% to 49%) are represented by orange and areas in which the percentage of low income is severe (above 50%) is represented by red.
The map demonstrates that the areas with the most severe low income is generally seen in the central core of the city. The areas with high levels of low income are seen within the central of the city, but are also dispersed throughout the remainder of the city. Areas with elevated levels of low income are seen mainly in areas outside of the main core of the city.
